3.7.2000 - Anita Windon, Chapter Bell Ringing Coordinator featured on ABC!

Last night, Anita Windon who is in charge of Bell Ringing activites for the chapter was featured on ABC's Profiles from the Front Line. This is the email Erin Blake sent out to the listserv:

I just thought I'd let people know that Anita Windon was shown tonight on ABC's Profiles From the Front Line; a six episode reality series that documents the danger faced every day by America's soldiers on the war on terrorism. A large segment profiled SSG Gene A. Vance, Jr., a Morgantown resident who died on May 16 in Afghanistan.

I had completely forgotten that ABC was there filming the memorial for this special, even after talking with them, or I would have put the word out to see if the bell was shown. They showed a small clip from the memorial service and bell ringing. Although Alpha Phi Omega was never mentioned, naturally, it was nice to know that we played a small part in helping to honor this man and made you proud to be a part of this organization.

It's wonderful to see APO working with such worthwhile efforts that mean so much to so many!! So congratulations to LO for being shown on such an important show and to Anita, for returning from Canada for such an important event and not getting a speeding ticket in the process!

In Leadership, Friendship, and Service,

Erin Blake

I am looking for some video clips of the segment. When I find them, be sure to check the news page.
